Hyundai Cars Ireland has announced a voluntary recall affecting several models due to a potential fire hazard linked to the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) unit. This safety issue could lead to a short circuit, increasing the risk of fire and potential injury.
Affected Models and Production Dates
The recall pertains to the following Hyundai models manufactured between 26 May 2009 and 31 October 2014:
- Hyundai Accent
- Hyundai Tucson
- Hyundai Genesis Coupe
- Hyundai iX35
- Hyundai Grandeur
- Hyundai Azera
A total of 7,896 vehicles in the Republic of Ireland are affected by this recall.
Identified Safety Issue
The issue arises from insufficient fuse protection in the ESP unit. In the event of a short circuit, this defect could lead to a fire, posing a significant risk to vehicle occupants. While no injuries have been reported to date, the possibility of harm cannot be ruled out.
